To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an individual, ages 12-16, with interests in pursuing a marine based career future. The recipient of this scholarship will receive a complete NAUI certification course to become an Open Water Certified Diver. The dive class will be provided by Scuba Quest in Bradenton, Florida.
SCUBA QUEST 200
To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an individual, ages 17-21, currently pursuing a marine based career. The recipient of this scholarship will receive a complete NAUI certification course to become an Open Water Certified Diver. The dive class will be provided by Scuba Quest in Bradenton, Florida.
MATTHEW HANSEN SCHOLARSHIP
To be eligible for this scholarship you must be an individual, ages 12-16, with interests in pursuing a marine based career future. The recipient of this scholarship will receive a complete NAUI certification course to become an Open Water Certified Diver. The dive class will be provided in the Gainesville, Florida area.
MASK, SNORKEL, FINS BENEFIT
To be eligible for this In Kind Benefit you must be an individual, ages 12-16, with interests in pursuing a marine based career future. The recipient of this In Kind Benefit will receive a mask, snorkel and fins set.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF REEF MEDICS AND ITS SUPPORTERS offer a variety of scholarship and in kind benefit opportunities for young people interested in exploring and protecting the ocean environment. Scholarship and In Kind Benefit candidates should carefully read the qualifications applicable to each scholarship and/or in kind benefit applying for and then submit an application.
- Scholarships & In Kind Benefits are only open to candidates who are residents if the Unites States
- Applicants may apply for only one scholarship and one in kind benefit each year
- Applicants selected to receive a scholarship or in kind benefit will be notified of results by February.
- Applications may be printed and mailed to the address on the bottom of the application or scanned and submitted via email to scholarships@reefmedics.org
- Scholarship funds are paid directly to the provider of the service for the benefit of the scholarship recipient. Scholarship awards may be considered as taxable income. Reef Medics suggests that you consult with a tax advisor (accountant) to determine how receipt of this scholarship may impact your tax obligation
- In Kind products and/or equipment will be presented to the recipient during the award ceremony held in March. If the award recipient is unable to attend the ceremony, other accommodations will be made for pick-up or delivery after the ceremony is held.

APPLICATION PROCESS
- Fill out the Reef Medics Scholarship/In Kind Benefit Application and return via US mail or email.
- Submit two letters from persons in your community, i.e., scuba instructors, teachers, employers, mentors, etc. Letters of recommendation should be sent as an attachment to an email to scholarships@reefmedics.org or can be sent via US Mail to Reef Medics PO Box 110652 Lakewood Ranch, FL 34211. Please be sure that the Letter of Recommendation mentions your full name. Letters of recommendation must arrive by the deadline of DECEMBER 31 (midnight EST) or your application will be invalidated.
Application Guidance:
- All requested information must be included. Incomplete applications (including lissing letters of recommendation) are ineligible.
- Spelling and grammar errors should try to be avoided. Proof all work, and we suggest you ask someone else to proof it as well.
- Give references at least two weeks to write letters of recommendation, and follow up to ensure the letters are sent in prior to the deadline.
- References from family members, while heartfelt, carry less weight than references from a teacher, coach, employer or non-family member.
- References that are vague and do not give specific examples carry less weight
- Please retain a copy of your application and all supporting materials
